An Overview of the Human Cardiovascular System

    Last updated 7 months ago

The human cardiovascular system follows an intricate structure that keeps blood pumping throughout the body. Each part of the system has a specific role in keeping the heart pumping and the blood circulating. Keep reading to learn more about how this system works:

    The Heart

This organ is responsible for moving blood throughout the body. It works as a muscle to constantly circulate blood to the other vital organs and limbs. Consisting of two circulatory loops, the heart is always working to keep the body functioning. The pulmonary circulation loop moves the deoxygenated blood from the right side of the organ to the lungs. The systemic circulation loop moves the oxygenated blood from the left side of the heart to the tissues.

    Blood Vessels

The body uses blood vessels to get the blood quickly from the heart to all areas of the body and then back to the heart again. Blood vessels are equipped with something called endothelium, which prevents the blood from clotting inside of the vessels. Without blood vessels, the other organs and tissues in the body would not get the blood that they need.

    Veins

It is the job of the veins to push blood back toward the heart. Certain veins require the use of valves to keep blood from flowing backward and away from the heart. If any of these valves stop working, however, blood starts to flow backward and can lead to issues with varicose veins or spider veins.

    What Are Warts?

    Last updated 7 months ago

Warts are small growths that show up on the hands or the feet. They often look like blisters. Different kinds of viruses are responsible for warts, especially different strands of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are often big and noticeable, which can affect your confidence.

Warts emerge when these viruses cause keratin to grow too quickly. There are many different kinds of warts. Common warts are hard to the touch. Verrucas, or plantar warts, show up on the bottom of the feet. Plane warts, or verruca plana, are flat and smooth. If you have problems with warts, talk to your doctor about possible solutions.

Chicago’s Varicose Solutions offers so much more than treatment options for varicose veins. We can also help you remove warts, moles, and even freckles with special laser treatments that bring big results. To learn more about our office or our services, visit us online or call (773) 628-7413.

Skin imperfections could make it difficult to feel as confident as you should. Laser pixel treatments can help you decrease the signs of some of these conditions and help you look and feel your best. Keep reading to learn more about what laser pixel can do for you:

Get Rid of Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Do not let fine lines and wrinkles prematurely age you when you can get a laser pixel treatment and smooth out your skin. The laser can actually be used to resurface the skin and get rid of these imperfections. After your treatment, you will notice smoother, younger-looking skin. Laser pixel typically works with just 3-5 treatments and provides continued improvement for many months after the treatment is complete.

Decrease the Appearance of Acne, Scars, and Stretch Marks

Acne, scars, or stretch marks on the skin could make you feel self-conscious about showing off these areas of your body. Whether you have any of these imperfections on your face, your neck, your chest, your back, or your hands, laser pixel treatments can help you improve the way they look.

    Even Out Skin Discolorations

Sunspots, dark circles, and even freckles can cause discolorations on the face. Luckily, the laser pixel treatment can be used to even out the skin tone, smooth out the texture, and get rid of redness or other discoloration. After the treatments are complete, you can once again enjoy the look of beautiful, even skin.

Varicose Veins 101 - Everything You Should Know about Varicose Veins

    Last updated 8 months ago

Did you know that roughly 50% of people in the U.S. over the age of 50 are affected by varicose veins? Varicose veins develop when the valves that prevent blood from flowing backwards become weak or damaged. If a valve allows blood to flow in the wrong direction, the blood can pool and enlarge the vein in question, creating a varicose vein. Venous valves tend to weaken with age, which is why varicose veins become more common as you get older. Genetics, hormonal changes, weight, and inactivity can also affect your risk of developing varicose veins. Take a look at this infographic from Varicose Solutions, your Chicago vein clinic, to learn more about what causes varicose veins and how they can be treated with endovenous laser therapy and sclerotherapy.
